Vintage Triumph Ride to Survive Raffle Tickets Available

PRCC is thrilled to announce that we are kicking it back to the classics this year.

The 2009 Ride to Survive bike is now available. Tickets are $10 a piece.

Ticket will soon be available for purchase online! At this time, feel free to purchase tickets using the 'donate' button on the PRCC website homepage - just make sure to follow up with a note on how many tickets were purchased at director@piedmontrapecrisis.com

Ride to Survive Committee Members Needed

PRCC Board and Staff are beginning to organize for the 4th Annual Ride to Survive.

The 2009 Ride to Survive, a motorcycle ride ending with a concert and auction, is scheduled for October 10. The event is a blast and takes a considerable amount of planning and energy, as we look forward to one of our most successful and fun rides.

Volunteer Training Coming Soon - Crisis Volunteers Needed!

The Piedmont Rape Crisis Center anticipates launching a 24-hour crisis hotline early May 2009. The hotline will serve as a lifeline to our community members in Jackson, Banks, and Barrow County who have questions related to issues of sexual violence, are considering reporting a crime, are interested in determining options and possibilities, or seek information and referrals.

Consquently, PRCC plans on offering hotline training June 2009. We are seeking responsible, reliable, committed community members to train on the hotline. Volunteers are required to be on call at least one night a week or weekend a month. This position is open to dependable community members who plan on residing in the above counties, or nearby area, for at least one year. Parties interested in learning more about the opportunity should send an inquiry to Susan Cash at susan@piedmontrapecrisis.org. Joy Strickland, PRCC Director.

2009 National Crime Victims' Rights Week

The Piedmont Rape Crisis Center serves with the Peidmont Judicial Circuit Collaborative Agencies to present Break the Silence, Stop the Violence, a week of honor and rememberance of Crime Victims in Barrow, Banks, and Jackson Counties.

What: Ceremony with Guest Speakers & a March around Jackson County Courthouse

When: April, 30, 2009, 6:30pm

Who: Concerned Citizens

Featuring

Written and/or Visual Art Competition for area High School Students!

Thank you to Lucas Franklin for his contribution of newly designed brochures. The new PRCC brochures will be posted on the PRCC website under 'resources' in the near future. Flyers and hotline cards are coming soon. Mr. Franklin is a fantastic example of how you can use a particular skill set and volunteer from a distance.

PRCC Welcomes Summer Interns

The Piedmont Rape Crisis Center board and staff are excited to welcome three new interns on board for summer 2009.

Emily Trostle holds a BA in Women's Studies from Smith. She is currently completing an MA in Non-Profit Management from the University of Georgia.

Tobi Collins is a pre-law student double majoring in English & Women's Studies at the University of Georgia.

Manisa Prema has recently graduated from UGA with a major in Women's Studies and minors in Spanish, Philosophy, and Religion.

Emily, Tobi and Manisa are joining PRCC at a time of serious growth and will contribute to the development of programming and various fundraising endeavors. Tiny continues as the PRCC Office Pet :) Joy Strickland, PRCC Director

The website is designed to serve as a resource for community members and those in need of support. Among other things, you'll find various outlets to become part of the PRCC community, a blog designed to answer annonymous questions, information on PRCC, and a library of resource sheets on a variety of issues related to sexual violence.
